I've been to quite a few sporting goods stores that sell ammo recently and was surprised there was any ammo on the shelves still. I have been through about 5 periods of time in the last 15 or so years where just a HINT of a restriction caused the shelves to empty for months. I asked several employees from different stores why this isn't happening now and how the background check will affect buyers. None of them knew exactly HOW bad it will be because the DOJ hasn't explained how the process will work. So it seems NO stores will be able to begin processing the background checks come July 1.
