Magnesium Shotgun TRACER Experiment -You Asked for It ─ TAOFLEDERMAUS

We glued magnesium shavings to the bases (gas pistons) of some LBC Sabot slugs with the intent of creating cool tracer rounds. The magnesium ignited when it was placed loosely on top of the powder. There wasn't enough surface area for the shavings to ignite in THIS configuration even though the magnesium was in direct contact with the burning powder. This makes sense- it's just like trying to ignite a pile of coffee creamer compared to aerating the same powder and igniting that.

Despite the lack of tracerization, we still have fun hitting the oddball targets.

No, we really aren't having a contest.
